"Three years ago I began to photograph myself regularly in front of a white wall.
It can be seen as a kind of diary, a play looking at oneself in
different situations when the rest of the world is cut of.
This pictures, presented here, are a selection of Self-portraits made during
my pregnancy and right after giving birth to my son.
The pictures out of this period are of particular importance to me.
It’s a time of extreams, new overwhelming feelings and situations.
It’s also a time that often is considered to be very private.
The mother and the newborn stays mainly at home and are in many
ways a bit isolated from the surrounding.
The way this situation normally is depicted seemed to me quite restricted:
The pregnant woman photographed in profile, showing the size of her stomach.
The mother, right after giving birth, with the newborn on her chest.
The mother or the sister or brother of the baby, holding it in it’s lap
surrounded of the hole family and close friends. The babys first bath. Etc
Putting up my camera in the nursery room, I was trying to break this
conventions, photographing myself and my son in all types of situations
and at any time."
